Picked up My 2000 E430 4matic

Hello ,
I just picked up my White E430 yesteday and drove it home from Louisville, Ky, to Peoria IL. I love the way the car drives.
The only thing I need to change for now are the lights. I want HIDs, and was thinking of buying them from JRT Lighting. What do you guys reccomend?

Also, I need to hardwire my V1.

I need to clean the yellow off the lights, which I will probably work on this weekend or next.
I will post pics later tonight.

Thanks
Khaiser

You

can't retro fit hids into the standard H7 units,so if all you want is more light follow the diy for headlight lens polishing on benzworld.org w210 section and install the 4 H7 65 watt rally bulbs H9 burner on an H7 base from
www.danielsternlighting.com
he also hs extra bright side and rear bulbs and euro spec selective yellow fog bulbs.
otherwise be prepared to spend about 800 bucks to get depo lamps and install projector units.Search the forum for threads on depo conversions.Either polish and use the ds H7's or depo home conversion for the big bucks.
Trying to retro fit hid bulbs into stock buckets is a recipe for disaster, poor lighting, dangerous glare and lamp warnings, don't waste your money.

Thanks for the heads up.
My understanding was the light kit from JRT lighting is a full kit, with ballast, socket, fuse, etc... Even this kit will cause problems?

Thanks

Enjoy your ride. Post some pictures.
There are HID OEM headlight assembly for sale on ebay from time to time..
You could also replace the entire headlights with Depo projector headlights.
They look nice. Also there are HID conversion threads for projector headlights that you might want to check.
You will have to remove the front bumper to replace the headlights. You will also have to get your car reprogrammed to operate the HIDs properly.
Good luck.

I have retrofitted my headlights with 55 watt HID's and they work perfectly fine. The HID bulbs that came with it fit perfectly in place of the old halogen bulbs which i believe are H4. Light output is like 3 times of the old halogens and they're brighter than the typical 35 watt HID systems. Light output pattern is similar to originals but WAY brighter and I have absolutely no problem seeing at night.

NO defective lamp warning at all and no flickering. No wiring problems or no fuse blowing problems.

As for glare I have looked at my car from the front and as long as the angle of the headlights is adjusted correctly they are not bad at all.

Unless you want the projector headlights and the look and you have 800-900 bucks pocket change I don't see a reason for getting the projectors.

For the time being, I think I will leave the lights alone. I am just going to clean the lights, and then I will take it from there.
