Loud Ticking noise coming from engine?

There is a loud ticking noise comeing from the passengar side of the engine. I'm not sure what it is but its noticable. The plugs and wires were just replaced. Its a 2001 e55 with 84k. Any ideas on where to start? I wish I had more infor but that is really all I have, just trying to diagnose some options of what it could be.

Either you have sticky lifters or you have a cylinder getting robbed of oil due to something; with the E55 im not sure of the engine's internal components; but with several V8's (m119) there is a problem with oil guides that when too much pressure or just time the end pops off resulting in oil robbery M119OilGuides let's just hope it just needs a good oil change does the ticking accelerate with the car's speed?
My car does the same thing; I just havent really had the time to take the valve cover off and start probing about in there to see; i know thats not your engine; but im thinking the problem is similar to mine

If it sounds mechanical you could use a large screwdriver as a makeshift stethoscope and isolate the sound. If it sounds like an arc try looking at the engine in the dark.

This car just had an oil change done yesterday and the ticking was rather loud. If that didn't correct it does it look like a lifter problem? I don't want to buy this car and have a huge problem. I want to make sure this problem is fixed before i buy.

I have done this myself and mine is coming from the driver side of the engine;
As far as the OP; if you havent bought this car; don't, if you're not a DIY'er this is a $1000+ job if done by the dealer and perhaps slightly cheaper than that at an indie; unfortunately for me it happened within the first year of me owning the car; even with regular oil changes

Brilliant

metallic silver with black condor and black birdseye maple wood 64,000 miles,garage kept.2001 AMG E55 says 17 firm he will sit at 17 for a bit and most likely come to his senses with cash at 15.5 if it inspects as well as portrayed.
not much further from you than what i flew and drove mine back from california.
inspect,inspect,inspect.Or have a ppi done.pricing where he has it means he probably has another car ordered and the dealer has offered him 14 in trade so he is insulted.

Unlikely, but since you mentioned that the plugs and wires were just replaced, the sound of spark arcing to to ground on the head can make a snapping sound. You would see it with all the lights off, and it would likely trigger a misfire code, but if you're an optimist ...

if it is catching your attention, don't buy the car without knowing what the problem is. sounds major!
