Transmission swap?
I have a 2001 E320 Sport, I have been having issues with the transmission, Im still not sure of what the problem is and right now I am in Iraq but.. I have a close friend who has a 1997 E420 and was hit in front and I was wondering if her Transmission and maybe the engine too could be put in mine? She has taken very good care of hers and her transmission was replaced like a year ago. Any ideas?

sorry.Different torque converter.Different version coding.Different(vastly)engine.
When you get back,have the diagnostics ran on the transmission,check for the leaking electrical connector that can cause shifting issue,check codes to make sure someone had not spilled liquid into the shifter.some repairs can be quite easy to perform.When you know what is needed and you are not operating in the dark.
