SRS is Supplemental Restraining System (Air Bags, Seat belt pretensioners, sensors in seats). Something is triggering the error - I'll leave it to the experts but my guess is you need to have the codes read to zero in on what's specifically wrong.
Could be anything from a bad sensor... to problems with the CO2 canisters. Perhaps even just low voltage.

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
Most common

is the passenger seat occupancy sensor.Get it on an sds diagnostic to be sure or inspect the wiring to the pass seat. Then if the diagnostics show it is that sensor you follow the diy on benzworld.org w210 section and replace it.
about$150 for the part.

Yep more than likely your passenger seat pad sensor, and yes $150 gets you a new one from the dealer. I have done the complete replacement myself so if you are looking for help don't be afraid to ask.

I'm having the same issue too with the SRS light. I checked what appears to be two or three connectors at the bottom of the passenger side seat; the wires seem to be fine and not pinched--if that is what you meant by checking for pinched wires. As far as voltage is concerned, I ran the diagnositics that comes from the AC and it indicated my voltage is at 13.3, is that ok? Do you suggest that I pull the seat and take it apart to check the wires that are connected to the sensor? I don't mind, I like to break things so I can fix them . I did take my car to my trustworthy indie and he was not able to get fault codes for the SRS light (he has the mb software). I'm going to take the car to the MB dealer and pay them the $115 for the scan. I'm just scratching my head how the light can come on because this car hasn't been driven in years and only has 38k miles.

Your indie

probably has a snapon scanner. We tried to clear a srs fault light on one and it did not work.Read it on sds and cleared it with the touch of the computer key.

The wire fails where it is tied against a sharpe edge in a hole at the bottom of the seat. follow the wire from the yellow connector and where it goes into the seat bottom, you'll feel a plastic tie there. Thats where my wire got cut and grounded out into the seat. Once the problem is corrected, the error goes away, no reset required. I had to replace the seat sensor. I had it done by an auto upholsery place in Plainview NY. He had the seat out and the leather off in no time. Charged about $100 and the part was about $125

Is there any way we can make a complaint regarding all these malfunctions? I've had this car for 2 yrs (2005 E500), bought it used but the car's service history is in the book. Benz dealer's been the only one servicing this car ever since the past owner bought it.
Here are what's wrong: SRS malfunction for almost 2 weeks now... also 2 weeks after I bought the car, the air strut started malfunctioning, the car was so low almost reaching the tire itself... took the car in, paid $1600 just for that. Now this again... servicing is never ending.... there should be a law protecting consumers.... they said no car warranty after 4 yrs or 50,000 miles... but I spent a whole lot already ever since I bought that car... it's a no win situation cuz if I sell it I'm losing a lot also.
I'm very frustrated... just wish someone can help me.

I"m gathering that I have to remove the seat, no biggie; actually looking forward to it. You said you had to replace the sensor. Did you replace it because the SRS code or you just did it since the seat was out?

You have to remove the seat and the leather. The sensor is under the foam. If you remove the seat, see if the wire is cut into where it is tied to the seat. if it is damaged, you can try to splice it. The sensors do go bad though so it may not be the wire.

I would get the srs light intermittently when people would sit in that seat. Then I got it all the time. I spliced the cut wire working underneath the seat (very difficult) and it worked for a few weeks until my daughter dropped something under the seat, reached her hand under and destroyed my handy work.

There is no was to bypass that stupid sensor and note that there is power in one of the leads. If you short it out (as I did) it blows a fuse that kills all of the steering wheel radio controls and some other stuff.

I dont know what it takes to remove the upholstery because I wasnt there when the guy did it but there are DIYs around. All I know is it worked when i got the car back. this was about 2 years ago
