Integerated phone costs?
Hey guys,
Recently bought an 01 E430. I am working to get the radio repaired right now and I understand the integerated phone works through the radio. What is the cost associated with setting up and using the integerated phone? Thanks

Im not sure were on the same page. I was thinking that I could hook up my personal cell phone in the car and talk throughout the speakers. Are you saying I need to buy one of those old school box cell phones that costed $50 a mintue to talk on? If thats the case I wont worry about it. Thanks again.

I don't understand what you are talking about. Why would there be more expensive to phone from an integrated GSM phone than a regular GSM phone?
But judging from what you are writing I guess you don't have the oiriginal phone system in your car?

Correct, I do not have a phone system in my car. I was thinking I could somehow hook up my cell phone to takes calls over the radio speakers while driving. Sorry for the confusion I really have no idea what I am talking about.

The original phone system in 210 is GSM based and is connected to the head unit through D2B (optical). The phone control unit is originally located in the trunk together with cd changer and BOSE amplifier.
To be able to control your phone through your steering wheel, head unit and read info in the instrument cluster you will need this original D2B system. If you don't have the phone system already this will be a lot of work to fit. you can probably get the parts cheap from a scrap yard or something, but it still requires a lot of work...
and another problem may be the cradle. I'm not sure if there are cradles available for newer phones. Then you will need a nokia 6210 cradle or similar and use the mercedes bluetooth module to connect your bluetooth enabled phone.

Also, search ebay for seller cellguy85 items. This is Keith Valentine and he sells kits to upgrade the phone system in our cars. His phone number is in his listings and he is happy to talk to you and walk you through what you need to meet your objectives. I bought a V60s upgrade kit from him and am very happy with it but he also has the bluetooth integrated kit.
