Question Mobil Delvac 1 or MX ?

Hi, after a long hour of searching through the forums and still unable to find an answer, I need some help in deciding which oil is better for my car among the following two:

1) Mobil Delvac 1 5W-40
2) Mobil Delvac MX 15W-40

I have a 2001, E220 CDI.

Thanks!

Oil must meet Mercedes specification 229.5

Check Mobil website for your country.

Is difficult to find a diesel rated oil on the approved list in the USA; guessing you may have more limited choices in Pakistan. Finding an approved product is made more difficult because Mobil changed the names of their products a year or two ago.

The Delvac 1 5W/40 is diesel rated and well thought of by many. I'd prob go with that one if your choices are limited.

FWIW - Your car probably came from the factory with Mobil 1 European Blend 0W/40. Mine did. Its one of the products whose name was changed. I'm currently using M1 Truck and TurboDiesel 5W/40 in my 99 which uses a different spec than your engine does.

Thanks guys for the help!

But ... first of all there is no Mobil website for Pakistan. Secondly, the only good oils that are available in my region are the ONLY two (for diesel) that I have mentioned above. So basically its just a matter of picking one out of the two.

Cost wise Delvac MX costs half as compared to the Delvac 1 in my region. But that is not important. I just want the right thing for my car irrespective of the price. Also, from what I know MX is mineral based and Delvac 1 is synthetic.

So then Delvac 1 shall it be?
