Car will not restart???

Ok I plugged back in the refinished xenons (oem) and reconnected the two front coils and the maf, new brembo brakes and ebc pads, new bilstein sport shocks and new steel brake lines. Now it will not start. I know there is a sequence for this but do not remember it. Battery has not been disconnected. Anybody have input? Oh Lord, I sent you what was requested for the tranny parts and plug boot remover. Hope you got it.

Thanks. I have checked all connections and they are tight and yes maf is plugged in. Do I need to reset something because of the headlights being plugged back in? They are oem, just removed to polish lens.

You've stumped me on that one ! No idea why the xenons would prevent the car from starting or have anything to do with starting the car for that matter. It just doesnt make sense.

yeah. I talked to my old tech this morning, (now a salesman) and he said the lights wouldn't have anything to do with it. So we are at the maf, the coils(I did unplug all six and replugged them back in in proper sequence, hard to screw up) and the air tube connecting to the back of the intake. He thought it might be the tps. did wash the car as well but I do not see how water spray could do it. He said all the front electronics are well packed since they are exposed. i will go out and check it all again to be sure. Maybe I knocked something loose. The radio also will not come on and no turnover(crank) or start.

No I have not. What would be the significance of using a different key? The tech at the dealer asked the same but did not explain why...

Won't crank

or start.If your battery had a drain and the car was down for a few days to do the work mentioned.Get the battery on a 10amp charger overnight or at least 12 hours.Lights could be on and battery needs a lot of oomph to turn over the high compression M112.
Hope it helps.Don't use a jump box and for gods sake don't jump it with the key in the ignition.

Boy it is nice to hear your post. I will put it on a charger tonight for a 10 amp overnight charge. It was running only a week or so before but has sat through the winter with no run time other than the once a month start up. Strange thing is the radio will not work either but the headlights, flashers and interior lights all workfine. Brakes were replaced but have not been bled yet. Just finished the install last night. Car was completely cleaned and detailed meaning the inner fender aprons were removed and all the crud was washed out. All was wiped dry and then let air dry for several days before reinstalling the aprons front and back. The only electrical connections I removed and reconnected were the six coils from the harness and the two front ones from the plugs, easy to grab without the covers in place. I only did one side at a time and they were all marked before disasembly. I disconnected the air box all the way to the intake and pulled the maf plug on the snorkel and then reconnected it. That is it. Engine bay was pressure washed prior to disassembly of anything. I have washed the engine compartment many times before and never had an issue. The dealer is stumped and the master tech says tow it in and put it on diagnostics before he can ID the problem. Battery was never disconnected. i will post in the AM as to the charging yea or nay. Thanks Oh Lord.

UPDATE Thanks Oh Lord for the insight. You were on target again. It was the battery. Currently it is reading 7 amps while the charger is hooked to it after an all night 12 hour charge. It started right up after removing the charger. Any recommendations for a replacement battery? Any thoughts on the Optima batteries? Are they worth it for these cars. Thank you so much Rob for pointing out the obvious. You are the only one who did and the master tech at MB Rahal in Pittsburgh did not come up with that and they know the car is stored over the winter. Anya and I will have to come to WA to visit sometime to say thanks in person for all your help. That trip would dtill cost less than all the money I have saved with yours and the forum's help. Thanks also to Martz for trying to help figure this out. If you still want to visit the Grand Prix in July here you have an open invite anytime.

personally i would stick with mb battery, not only because they are known to last longer (the factory one lasted over 8 years), but because all you do is give them a call and they change it for you. you don't even have to be there, just leave the car unlocked and they will change it for you and do all the synchronization.

Battery

group battery(don't keep that info in my brain) vented style.
sams club,interstate battery suppliers,pep boys as low as under 100 bucks and the proper cca.
Mercedes batteries are not made by Mercedes and even though roadside assist is labor free you still pay a hefty premium for the battery.
Most batteries don't make it past the 5th year no matter what name is placed on them.
Have nthe charging system checked out for free at kraggens or what have you in the hood

when the dealers get stumped they call me
and then they tell you to come in and charge you for the diagnostics anyway
