Need A Trailer Hitch for my W210

Hello fellas,
I may be purchasing a single jet ski with trailer for the summer time. I will need to tow it with my E300. I figure my car can handle this weight as its not that heavy. Does anyone know where I can get a trailer hitch that is made for the W210? I would prefer one that is as hidden as possible from plain sight.
Thanks for any help.

Oris

is the OEM for Mercedes. It's a removable hitch that stores inside the spare tire. Such factory option has never been offered on US spec vehicles.

Oris also produces this invisible unit:

Most US forum members install the Uhaul unit.

Cheers

Neat. I know they tow small travel trailers in Europe using those folding hitches, but I wouldn't tow anything more than your jet ski with it personally. Too light weight for me; but then, so is the tow vehicle.

Thanks for the help. I may end up going the UHaul route depending upon what they quote me.

How about the trailer's wiring connection? Does Mercedes have a specific part for this?

Thanks,

Mine has a permanent Bosal towing hitch. I've town a 1400kg caravan to the south of France and back with it, while my car is Approved for 1900kg. Diesels are strong pullers. I prefer the permanent hitch. It's not very clean optically but other drivers will be careful when parking behind my car or they destroy their bumpers!

I have a Da'Lan hitch on my '00 wagon. It is a 1 1/4 inch drawbar type where only the little black square shows under the bumper.

The Curt C11830 seems to be the only commercially available hitch made for the E320. It's a Class I with a 2500 lbs GTW and 250 lb TW. My camper fits the GTW capacity but the tongue weight is 350 lbs. I'm going to consult with one of the hitch shops but I think that I can make this all work well if I add in a Weight Distribution Hitch. It mechanically shifts the tongue load reducing the load at the hitch point. The physics of it are beyond my comprehension but the attached article from Popular Mechanics with photos shows that it does work. If they could tow that big camper with an Olds Tornado with the rear wheels removed then I'm pretty sure that we can do better with the E320. Click below.

You may want to check with someone in the know----I believe MB suggests added transmission cooling when aftermarket hitch installed!!

Yes, I've seen that mentioned online too. I plan to add one. Any suggestions as to a source for one?

Thanks

I picked this Curt model up from Amazon for $198 shipped and installed it this afternoon. Easy install on the wagon though I didn't wire it as we'll use it just for the bike and cargo racks pirated from our Subaru. It sits up nice and tight with the bottom of the rear valance and just back slightly. With a single PWC you shouldn't have to worry about exceeding any of the above numbers (although my paperwork lists the TW as 200lbs). I think Uhaul wanted an additional $200 for the install. I'll try to post some pics if I get around to it.
