Transmission problem
Hi,
I have a 1999 E320, I am smelling a very bad smell from after the hood in the area where there was supposed to be a transmission oil dipstick and I think that my transmission oil is toast.
I am starting to experience somewhat hard shifting. I am in a bit of a delma, a lot of people told not to touch the oil and leave the transmission untill it dies as changing the oil will do more harm than good but some other people told, that I need to change it or flush it to try save what is left of it.
Can anybody help me, please?.
Thanks,
Mezo

MBWorld Fanatic!
Change the fluid and filter.
mb spec 722.6 fluid and pm me for the special dipstick.Your 99 has a drain for the torque converter so almost all of the fluid can be drained and it will improve the transmission unless the bands are shot. Most times It is a big improvement.
