Cool Spacers???

Everyone.

I want to put spacers on the front since the new wheels (18 AMG's) rub once in a while whenever I turn right!!!! So where can I get the right studs or can I use the original ones. If anybody has a website can you post it..

Thanks

with the AMG 18s your tires are rubbing the fender lip I bet, and not the inside. If this is the case, you should be rolling the fender lips and not add spacers which may make the rubbing even worse when turning. Is your car lowered?

You can get

hub centric spacers at several online suppliers like eibach. If you are contacting the suspension bolt on the right side a 5mm spacer may provide enough clearance.
Discount tire stores carry spacers and can check the clearance issue if you have one nearby.
THESE guys also carry eibach

Measure twice ,install once

I already have the 5mm spacers

can I use the stock studs or do I need to get longer ones to make up for the thickness of the spacer???

Not fender

Actually I can hear the metal rubbing, the fender does not have any tire marks....

Thanks

alright.....let's take a step back first.

we're chasing a solution in which we've not even determined the cause of
the sound.

*find that out first!*

re: ohlord's reference to The Nut.....

....though there is a part of me wondering why it only contacts when turning right.
that's very odd, to me

Off hand

I forget how many threads is min.
Some of our autocross classes allow spacers as long as certain amount of threads are caught. Discount tire if you call them can give you the correct for street use.
If you can't get the info there rad/otis will tell you.

I will post some pics of where it rubs. It rubs the most when I back up mainly on the right side, not as much to the left.

Thanks

Oh Lord.

I called Discount tire, they said that I should be able to use the ones that I already have on, I'm going to try that but I'm a bit concerned. I will post any information afterwards.

Rad has varying length bolts for your application. Increase the length by the extra width of the spacer. Make sure your bolts are in far enough! Don't screw with a little detail like this and have a huge mistake when your tire passes you in traffic and you go into the ditch. Amg specs were ET 31 and non AMG were 35 ET on the wheel set. What are you running and how much are you lowered? I run 35 ET on 8.5 front with 245-40-18 General Exclaim UHP and lowered 1.75" and no rub. I also use the Brabus 30mm stabilizer bar instead of the factory 28mm with Bilstein Sport shocks. Body roll is minimal. Factory AMG cars had the front fenders radiused and the lip rolled for added clearance. Eastwood company sells the rolling tool for DIY. Don't forget the heat gun to soften not melt the paint!
