Which ODB-II scanner to buy? Reset Check Engine light.
It has been an on and off thing for some time and I have just taken it to the dealership for a service B and they found a few issues with the car, but none that they said would affect performance or were urgent items. They charge extra for a scan so I figure I'm better off doing it myself. Also I have a smog check coming up.
(I'm in CA)
Thanks!
Get the code reader and post the codes asap. That way you will have time to make the repairss that will allow you to be ready for the test and pass.

the store if you have one near you will meet the internet price if you take a copy of the ad.
ignoring cel even when they don't show ant symptoms in running condition will eventually do damage to some system or the system affected by the code and it will cost more money to repair .Which is what the dealer motive is in telling you tht you can get by for now ignoring the repair.Read them and fix the issues yourself. Stop going to the dealer.
Some autozones and ohreilys will read codes for free. Write them down and post them.
