if you check your owner's manual, you'll see resetting instructions.
however, be warned. the reset is a little klutzy, possibly requiring
multiple tries before it will actually reset.

another trick is to use the forum's search function to look for answers
to your questions....many which have been asked by others.

give pg 95 a try.

just so happens my FSS overdue notice has been flashing at me for a couple
of weeks. so your post reminded me of this and i grabbed my manual and
gave it a go. took me about 7 tries (5-10 mins) and now it's reset.

also had 0170 and 0173 trouble codes so i cleaned the MAF sensor and
cleared the stored codes. warning lamp vanished.

you guys were doing things correctly. the SEARCH function is inoperative.
i thought back to how I performed it yesterday. it may amuse you.....

I have a routine when I browse MB forums. I nearly always open 3 sites
simultaneously via tabbed browsers (Netscape, IE8, etc): Benzworld,
MBWorld, and Mercedesshop.

it dawned on me now that the SEARCH function probably wasn't working
and w/o blinking, I simply tabbed over to Benzworld and used the SEARCH
function there. some of the posts are cross linked to MBWorld and vice
versa.

so you two weren't hallucinating. I'll alert a mod.

If you can't search, go to google, and type:
site:mbworld.org blah blah

Where "blah blah" is what you want to search for. This means "search the site mbworld.org for the term blah blah"

So you can go to google and type:
site:mbworld.org FSS reset

Yeah, the site has been having technical difficulties lately.
