2004 E320
DIY Oil/Filter Change

I just became the owner of a 2004 E320 with 53k miles. My previous MB was a 92 E300 which I owned for 9 years. I hope to be able to continue changing my oil and filters. What a drastic change when you compare the two engines. NO DIPSTICK?? I'm going to buy an oil extractor. Where do you insert the line to suck out the old oil and where is the oil filter located?? This machine is so high tech that it blows my mind. My first problem that requires solving is a rhythmic rumbling tire sound. I'm hoping that all it is just a one bad tire or re-balancing job. I had a Michelin Harmony that developed a flat spot and the symptom was the same. My E320 currently has Continental Contitouring Contact tires and I've not familiar with this brand.

You're on the wrong forum

Your 2004 E 320 is a W211, successor to the W210.

Continental is one of the most respected names in tires and has had a very long relationship with Mercedes cars. It is still one of the main supplier of tires to Mercedes.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
You still have the same engine

just no dipstick.
Follow www.peachparts.com resource section diy articles bottom of the page Oil change #2
Use mobil 1 0w40 or 5w40 and you can get it at napa some walmarts etc.
fleece filter from www.autohausaz.com
You measure the warm oil extracted and put in a quart shy of that and then follow your owners manual on how to check oil level via the dash display.
Reset fss using procedure in manual.
If you don't have an owners manual

www.benzworld.org w210 forum diy stickies at the top of the forum general info has links to a back door I found on MBUSA for owners manuals and Maint. Service manuals.
Time to change your spark plugs , change your trans fluid and filter mb spec fluid 722.6 5 speed, time ot inspect and make sure you do not have the valeo radiator that causes so much damage to the w211 model you have if it leaks coolant into the transmission.
Good luck with the W211 I wish you well
