99 E430 PROBLEMS
Hi, I have a few problems with this benz, it has 125k miles and has been garage kept. First problem is the ac wont blow cold air, I had reset the system so that the ec light would go off and still nothing. Any help with that would be appreicated greatly.
Second issue that just started is the outside lights will start to flash as if the alarm is going off for no reason. I dont want that to kill the battery seeing as its a pain in the *** to recharge it or to have benz come out and change it.
Third issue is the rack and pinion. Its leaking and benz wants 1300 to buy the part, autozone has it for 400, do you guys recomend the auto zone parts, why or why not?
So there it is, once I fix those things this baby will be up and running until then its just a drive way ornanment
thanks for any advice.

What's
leaking on the rack?
The boots are replaceable. The whole unit from a real mb supplier is about $450 rebuilt.I would stay away from autozone for that unit.
Did you check the charge in the a/c?
Did you run the ob diagnostics?
Check all the door strikers,if out of kilter the alarm system thinks a door is ajar

Rack get
quote from www.autohausaz.com
or www.peachparts.com
you will need to run your vin or have it handy so they know if your car had parametric(sp) steering or not.
autohausaz usually has the lowest prices and free shipping on oem and oe parts.
They also have the boots.
Charge best to have a shop with proper gauges test it,if the compressor is running you can check pressure but not charge since it is a variable demand system.
Check that nobody jammed a seat belt in the door and knocked the striker out of the original position.
