rear ended today in Huntington Beach

So I was driving my daughter to school this morning and stopped Northbound on PCH at Newland. This bonehead slides into me at about 25mph/skidding down from 50mph I assume. See his car vs mine. We are fine and "Betsie" shows some damage but mostly superficial. I will take to Local qualified repair shop for survey and assessment in the morning. Love my Benz...Oh did I mention he had no insurance? First thing out of his mouth was "might as well call the cops and take me to jail 'cause I don't have insurance" I took a picture of his license plate and got in the car and called the police...What an A$$hole! Thanks Huntington Beach Police!

That's not good, but at least, nobody got hurt. I hope you can fix your wagon right away.

I didn't know if MB is that strong

I go to OC Benz for mechanical. AAA recommended Specialty Body Works on Paularino in Costa Mesa/Formerly Bruce Strauss. The guys at OC Benz used to all work there before Bruce Strauss sold out years ago. I will check them/Bells/ out for a second quote for sure. I could not see anything bent or shifted as he hit us squarely bumper to bumper. I imagine there is some damage under the bumper and to the mounting points. Not sure whats under there...

I never wanted to test it. But it is the primary reason we drive Mercedes Benz vehicles. Safe and Strong! I had seen another wagon that was totaled after a rear hit at serious speeds and it buckled in front of the rear cargo/passenger area and behind the back doors. I am currently looking for an 01' or an 02' wagon/non 4matic to replace my old 190e. The damaged car will be mine and the wife will get the upgrade...

Sorry for your misfortune, Slopestar. The good news is that your bumpers matched up pretty well and it looks like he got the worst of it. I was rear ended (not in my MB) by a pickup truck and he took out the tailgate, rear window, bumper and both tail lights because his bumper was much higher than mine.

Just got car back. $800.00 repair on rear impact strip and bumper. Specialty auto in Costa mesa did a great job and had the car back to me in 4 days. AAA insurance waived deductible and gave me a Toyota corolla S as a rental. what a POS that thing was. My 92' 190e is so much nicer to drive. Even with the gutless low end. It just runs around town and on the freeway so much better. The corrolla S had some Guts as I believe it has a turbo but YUK! wife and I are both pleased to have our Mercedes' back. I can see why she did not want to drive the rental while "her car" was in the shop. As a reward to me and the wagon, we will be going to the mountains on Wednesday to let the 4matic driveline shine!

Sounds like it all worked out......but what a bummer that you had to deal with all the trouble.

Be sure to check the roads before you go as all roads in and out of Big Bear were closed as of this morning and we have another storm coming in tonight
