Spark plug wires, Karlyn-STI og Magnecor
Hi
What brand should I choose for my 2001/2002 E55?
I have found a set from Magnecor here http://www.alamomotorsports.com/Magn..._mercedes.html
and Karlyn-STI from Autohausaz
My gut says Karlyn, but maybe you say something else?

Neither
You don't need new wires. They are bullet proof and as long as you don't injure them by improperly removing them when changing plugs they will last virtually 4ever. Save you money for something else.
Magcore wires are like K/N filters snake oil.You definitely don't want those misfire makers

You have the
same wires as the op.
They will last forever.
Do you have the 17mm special spark boot tool so you use it when changing plugs and assure you don't harm the wires and makes the plug change much easier?

My wires are not good anymore. I have removed them and all of them are oxydized and some are burnt. They did work, but I'm replacing them so it's out of the way... the wire itself may be good, but the socket is baked.
Not that much money for a set anyway
a new set of original wires here in norway is about 1100 dollars. So I see this as alot of money saved, not money wasted ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
But judging from your comment on Magnecor, I will go for Karlyn-STI![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Thank you rob![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I don't have a special tool. Used a 17mm wrench and my hands. As instructed in WIS.

I ordered Karlyn-STI wires from AutohausAZ..
I am one of those guys who just have to have his car in as perfect condition as possible. I don't hold back on such cheap things.
In my country this car is actually worth spening a bit of money on. I paid about 150 000NOK including Norwegian VAT for the car, and have to pay another 150 000NOK for the license plates. Usually 1 USD = 5,5-6 NOK, so total with plates is about 50-55 000USD.

yeah, but total is 300 000 NOK... and with an exchange rate usually between 5,4 and 6 that will equal 50-55 thousand USD.
I know my currency conversion..
