Swap C32 AMG into E320?

Swap C32 AMG into E320?
If this has been discussed I can't find it. I have a 2000 e320 in top condition. It has a special Nappa leather interior (Java-tan) that Mercedes agreed to do as a one off and that makes it special. Also being Silver exterior with the Java interior is unusual (and looks great though you might not think so).
The only problem is power. I know I can by a E55 AMG pretty cheap but I just don't care for the black interior. I almost bought a 2001 E55, thinking I'd swap interiors but it just look like too hard to do.
Doing the Kleeman thing would cost too much too. So I was thinking of buying a C32 AMG engine, ECU and headers and swapping. If I could do it for less than $4K, I'd do it.
Does anyone have any thoughts or info about trying this?
One other thing, when I was looking at the e55 and drove it, I was surprised how noisy the supercharger was. It sounded like a leaf blower under there, not the power sound I expected. Is that normal? With that power, I wanted a growl not a hairdryer.

2002 Mercedes Benz E320
I've always wondered this too. Or could you somehow take the supercharger from the C32 and mount it on the E320? Isn't it the same engine? Would you have to upgrade the internals?
The W210 E55 wasn't supercharged from the factory, unless you drove a supercharged example from somewhere. I like the supercharger whine, I think it sounds better than a turbo.

The C32 has lower compression pistons to compensate for the boost offered by the supercharger. Premium fuel is a must. The ECU needs to be remapped. Exhaust should be addressed as well due to higher flow rate and volume requirements. I believe you are talking about the same base motor but the electronics are more involved.

Hmmmmm. I personally have never seen or herd of this but I am sure if you keep asking around someone will no the answer. SOunds like an interesting and cool project. Good luck.
The E320 you have uses the M112 Motor. Here is a link. According to this it is the same type motor.

I see no reason that you couldn't swap the entire setup (motor, ECU, harness, etc) as long as the engine block has similar mounting points and bellhousing patter. Also may need to lengthen the harness depending on ECU placement. Not so sure about the headers...
I imagine swapping out an interior would be quite a bit cheaper & easier than swapping out a drivetrain w/electronics.

Done this on my car, after 6 months trial and error, it is now running perfect.
After getting a lot of negative feedback and doubt from a lot of people, i finally challenge myself to actually do it.
Since i found a few people interested in doing this mod, i would just say, Just DO it, it is not as hard as a lot you think. but it need few modification to make it run perfect.
I am using a C32 AMG supercharger on 1998 E320, no modification to engine internal and no ECU tuning.
i havent dyno the car yet, but it feels like it has a little bit more power than e430 but not as strong as e55.
Keep in mind, the intake and supercharger is bolt on, but pulley, accesories and others need some modification and adjustment.
Here is some pic of the project.

It is just resting, not bolted to the valve cover. the TB itself is not that heavy so it is not a problem. i am perfecting the breather hose on the engine, i will post more detailed pics when it is complete.

I think it should work on V8 version as well, say E55 supercharger on E430 etc.
cause the basic principle is the same. keep in mind to use a little larger diameter pulley and not magnetic driven pulley so it will lower the boost a little bit, just to be safe. Since AMG internal engine has titanium piston dan lower compression compared to stock. and offourcse additional aux fan to cool the radiator since it shares the same coolant line with the intercooler.

I understand this is an OLD post, but still relevant. I have a 2003 E320 Wagon with about 60k miles and in absolutley flawless condition. Thinking of getting supercharger off of ebay from a C32 and installing. Any updates or more pictures. Particularly interested in the final tuning required and what the long term reliability is.
Thanks,
Mike

@BRABUS - can you share some pictures, maybe even put together a short DIY? we would love to hear how you did it.
@Mike - I'll PM Brabus directly and see if we can get started on a project like this.

C32 supercharger system
Hi,
I'm the guy on Ebay selling the supercharger system on motor, on a stand. It already has the correct pulley. Due to work schedule, I simply don't have the time any more. I have the thermostat housing, Boost-a-pump, e55 intercooler (for a W211) pumps. Air filter boxes and small parts incl. the secondary air pipes and hoses.
The system is very do-able, don't let anyone who hasn't even tried doing any custom work tell you different. I have done many supercharger and turbo systems.
The mods needed for this build are basically;
1. Cutting of bracket timing cover bracket
2. Repositioning of the EGR, unless you delete it.
3. Depending on what body vehicle you plan on, intake tubing. The C32 does not use a Mass air meter, and space is tight. It looks like there may be enough room on a W211 to add the mass air meter and make a custom Y pipe in order to retain the pretty AMG air boxes. Running a single tube to a filter, is obviously the easiest.
4. Install The KennyBell Boost pump (which I have).
5. Swap a serpentine idler pulley to a smooth back, change thermostat housing (I got those too).
6.Important, install a recirculating valve (bypass valve). I welded a 1" tube to the supercharger intake plenum (part bolted to the back), planned on a second welded tube to the discharge Y-pipe, then with hose install a common Bosch bypass valve.
That little valve was enough on a 5.0 Ford I did years ago installing a KennyBell 1000 Opcon Autorotor 5-6 psi.(Lysom screw) supercharger, same type of unit as the C32 AMG.
Send me a text if your interested, I don't get much time to check posts as much as I use to. I also have it up on Craigs. in NY. I would ship everything, except the motor on stand. I don't have a vehicle anymore to transport.

I also printed out a copy or two of the Kleeman install instructions, a lot of similarities. Ex: closely sized units, stock injectors,(you Don't use the AMG injectors), 5-7Psi. It also gives you data as far as parameters for confirming A/F ratios. But that is not a problem running 5-7 psi with the Boost pump, whick Kleeman also uses!

Hi there Lowflyingbird, thanks for the insight.
I'm really happy to hear that this setup is possible! I really wish someone had made a DIY thread... maybe I'll just have to do on myself
As far as the mods needed, what do you mean by "cutting the timing bracket cover"?
Also, I'd be installing on a w211 - would the airboxes you have work? I'm sure I could custom fab some intake tubing.
Is the Mass air meter different than the Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF)?
Thanks in advanced for your answers!
