Will a sport front bumper just bolt on?

I did a search already and only found one thread on this that wasnt clear on the answer....

So, I need to replace my front bumper and would like to get the sport bumper.

Will it just bolt right on?
All I need is the bumper and the round fogs?
Are there any plastic lower grilles in the bumper like in my regular E430 bumper?
Will the fogs just plug in, or are the connectors different?

Thanks!

yes, a sport will essentially just bolt right up. As long as it is for a 00-02. You will need updated fog lamps though and maybe some minor clips and such.

The Sport bumper will require a new inner reinforcement and foam inserts along with fogs and grills

Also when I added the AMG E55 bumpers to my 210 I had to purchace special AMG/HWA wire harness adapters for the AMG fogs (the connections are different)

That's right. The AMG fogs are H3 and regular fogs are H1 if I remembered correctly. This applies to 00-02 W210s

Where do you get the harness adapters?

What about the black cover that goes under the bumper? (the one with the fog light access holes in it)

That is the two piece undershields you are referring to. I believe they are the same for all models. The difference is in model year, ie face lifted versus pre-facelift cars. 6/99 forward is post face lift.

Project costs??

Hey Red..
That would look good, as we saw it done on the other member from Europe.
I am just curious how it looks in person without the side and rear replaced. He just did the front bumper and his car was black too.
The other question is roughly the cost of this project?? bumper+harness and other stuff, etc...???

Yeah, I've thought of the costs, but right now my front bumper cover is cracked and will need to buy a new one anyways. Will be going through insurance so they will be paying for it. Body shop is a friend of mine so once I get the check, insurance will pay for it and I will pay any difference. Still just trying to pull all the info together to see if it's worth it or not.

I have a set of Lorinser side skirts that I'm thinking of putting on too, so hopefully that will help. Not sure yet.

If you are concerned about appearance then check the flow of the body lines or it will be very obvious. You look like the type that really cares about your ride. That would be my concern about body lines not flowing right or looking chopped. The AMG front is very different as M Cummins said. A new inner attachment panel and new foam inserts plus grills and lights along with wire connectors to do the job right. Hate to screw up a nice looking ride by going half way on an obvious mod. Side skirts and rear bumper with the same pieces completes the look.

In that case it is a great reason to change it especially when the insurance is picking up most of the bill...hopefully the difference is not too much.

I having not checked in this forum lately but just realized that member Anatoli added side skirt on his...originally he only had the front AMG bumper and it looked nice....but I was not sure it had the complete look. I think he is still missing the rear skirt from what I can see in the picture.

After seeing his front bumper....I wish I could change mine...but I knew to do it right it would cost lots of $$$, which that is not priority right now to do.
Personally, I would do the complete package if possible..someone who does not know these cars would not tell...but I think we w210 guys would pick up on it quickly. Good luck on your decision and keep us posted about it.

You're right mistertonyn. I have thought about it, and have been looking at pics and if I do the sport front bumper I will want to get the side skirts to complement it. I love the Lorinser side skirts, but am not too thrilled about their front bumper. Maybe I'll sell these Lorinser skirts and look for AMG skirts. Anybody have a good reasonable source? Thanks.

I had the bumper replace recently due to a large object that was unavoidable on the highway. The repair went through the insurance because it was quite costly. Well, the bracket of the front right fog light also snapped. The total bill came to $3K out the door. Of course, this repair had a little more things in addition to just replacing the bumper. From what I remembered, the shop told me the bumper itself is already $1200. I would say you are looking at $2K or less to have a new bumper paint and installed. I went to a top notch bodyshop (Wagonwerks) here in DC so no doubt the cost would be higher...

Performance Products has the side skirts for a little over $1K.
Complete AMG package will run about $4K.

The Wire harness adapter is a factory P/N look it up on EPC

Several sources for the bumpers try a bumper reman shop also
lots on Ebay ...

I Did The AMG kit along with a few other items on my wagon and it was NOT cheap as AMG E55 Estate REAR bumpers are a Euro Only item.

AMG makes Two rear bumpers for the 210 One with Exhaust cutout ..the other without
