instrument cluster lighting
my lighting for my instrument cluster is going out. Very difficult to see. Anyone have any suggestions on how to repair? I am thinking it is just a bulb but I am puzzled about how to even get behind the panel to see. I am talking about the lighting for the spedometer and tach not the clocl and temp.
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

how about a firm little tap with the five finger tool?? - while not the most technical, a little tap sometimes gets it back in working order.
For replacement, you'll need the cluster removal tool. Do a search on the forum for "gauge cluster removal" (or check out this post https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...r-removal.html) - ohlord may have the tool for sale or at your local dealer, too.
welcome to the forum & best of luck!

First remove the cluster. You can almost do this with bare hands.

Then replace the bulbs. Order online or buy them from the dealer. You can't find the right bulb at most auto parts stores. It looks like this:

and with the varietyy of different sizes and shapes and wattages you really need to pull the cluster and determine what failed before you order the wrong bulb
hooks make it easy
bare hands are a stretch
unless you have hooks for fingers
