1996 E320 running funny

Hello to all, help! My 1996 E320 has 2 intermitent problems. First running down the road lets say at 70mph, every now and then I feel what I would describe as a misfire. Second, occasionally it will idle extremely rough, put her in neutral and try and increase rpms, only causes backfiring. In drive moving down the road she's fine, except for the occasional first problem mentioned above. No messages on the message center.

Sounds like a bad mass air sensor.I would consider changing the fuel filter too , if it hasn't been done lately too.

1996 E320, Changed out fuel filter, runs ever so slightly better, changed out mass air flow sensor, much improvement, no more skippy at high speeds. I still have a very occasional stalling issue at idle speeds, more so after the car has warmed up. You can put your foot in it and she will accelerate through it. Any more suggestions

At the rear of the engine, below the cylinder head on the left (driver's side in US). You need a small mirror to see it from above.
