do you know what's causing the error message? ie it didn't appear before the HID kit.. now it appears? try a 'canbus' decoder http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Canbus-Deco...us_decoder.htm

Mine just started this a couple months ago, and I changed head and tails out a couple years ago, so I am sure its not an LED resistor issue. Typically false defective lamp warnings are an indicator of low voltage in the battery. I had the same issue five or six years ago before I changed my battery. Never had a false warning again until now. I am thinking I need to swap out the battery again before the cold sets in.

Not working
I received the decoder last night and I put it on. I still get lamp defective warning every time I turn the light off only when the engine is running. It does not do it after I turn the engine off first. Dont know what to do. Is there a solution for this?

Check all lights. All of them are working fine. How come it only happen when I turn off the headlight when the engine is running. not the park light. it doesnt do it. Also, it does not do it after I turn the engine off.

i happen to believe (and have seen) light malfunction alert activated after
the owner installed HID kit...as well as LED tails. So i'm in the camp that
believes these modifications can cause warning light to come on.
when the new light mod was removed and OEM restored, the warning light
extinguished. new mod put on, warning light back on.

shut off procedure that works has been discovered by many members that have installed these cheap kits.
The ones that don't want to remember what sequence to turn off the lights and car just resort to hitting the button that clears the malfunction warning and live with it.

you actually checked all exterior bulbs. folks (sans mods) frequently miss
a bulb. the whole list of monitored bulbs has been posted many times. but
from memory while sitting in the office, I recall....
low beam (2 bulbs)
high beam (2)
front turn (2)
front city light (2) below high beam
clearance (2) front bumper, side
high brake light, aka Dole (2) above trunk
reverse (2)
tail lights (2) two, dual filament bulbs
rear license (2)
