Koni FSD Kit install on 1999 W210 E300 Turbodiesel

Hey guys,

I'm in the middle of a suspension rebuild and have reached a roadblock. I went to install my new Koni FSD shock absorbers and the instructions don't say which goes on the front and which goes on the rear. I suspect the the non-adjustable shocks go on the back and the adjustable shocks go on the front. Would this be correct?

i dont read of m/any folks indicating that they've used this shock for the 210.
why not simply google and check the part number to see which end it was
designed to support?

I called Koni. The ###-1123 go in the fron and the ###-1124 go in the back. They are all non-adjustable.

because its a ***** to adjust them and once you install them, 99% of owner will never bother messing with them again. The FSD is self adjusting, which I'm very curious as to how it rides!

I will post my results next week.

I need to swap the springs back out. I put in H&R springs to drop the car and stiffen the ride, but.... I have found that I miss my ground clearence here in the land of high curbs and deep street drainage troughs.

Initial indications are that the H&R springs and sway bar do make the ride very stiff and eliminate almost all body roll. But make the car ride like a Honda. My opinion is that I don't want my Mercedes to ride like a Honda and will gladly accept a bit more roll and cushion in the suspension to keep that feel.

Koni externally adjustables are pretty simple to adjust :S has some screws in the top of this, with some white special keys (suplied with the shocks). adjustables at 5 position it's pretty simple & gave you the possibility to use the suspension set-up for different travels / purpouses at 175$ each

that's true to a degree, Fabio.....if the shock is off the car.

with the Koni yellow body adj model I had, one had to depress a spring loaded
button atop the shock body, beneath the chrome cover.....while at the same
time, rotate the shock rod using a plastic knob.

this is relatively easy to do alone, for the front shocks on a 210. most folks'
arm span will accommodate such a maneuver.

but in the rear, it's a 2 person job as avg arms won't be able to turn the knob
while reaching around the rear fender, into the trunk and back towards rear
seat....while at the same time, using the other hand to depress the spring
loaded button on top of the shock body.

Yeah i know that! the problem is you have the "internally adjustable ones" right?!

I have the "externally adjustables", they comes with a white knob removable like this: http://www.pianocentre.ca/small/koniadjusters.jpg , & you can adjust them without remove it of the car, (they have the adjuster in the tops of its) like this: http://www.hotpart.com/shop/images/p...and_Struts.jpg ... You only need to open the hood to adjust the fronts, & remove the fuel tank cover to adjust the rears.. exactly same as all coilover systems Don't need to depress all the shock, internally adjustables yes..

Other words:

Externally adjustables : http://www.koni-na.com/knob.cfm

Internally adjustables : http://www.koni-na.com/mono.cfm
