Ohlord...Wow the rusted spring perch thing is really......
Wow!!!! The rusted spring perch thing is really deterring me from getting the 98-2000 e class wagon.
Ohlord: Are the 2001's exempt from this problem?
If there is no rust visible around the perch, there shouldnt be a problem right?

2003 S210 3.8L Brabus wagon
Buy a west coast or south western states car and you will be fine. Go for the latest model you can afford. Places like Autotrader dot com ca open a search nation wide if you desire. Mine came out of Calif. and no issues.

Thanks for the reply ejsheltra.
I agree but im a little pressed for time. Also getting a car from afar i will have to go there and inspect which would take TIME. Also if the car isnt what i expect, then thats a trip in vain. Although i agree with you 100 percent, i wont be able to travel abroad.
So i guess im gonna have to INSPECT!! INSPECT!!! INSPECT!!!!
and Tell my mechanic to pay close attention to Ohlord's list. And pray.
Im going to check out a couple of them today in my area.

Saw an 01 black / black. 145k miles. no 4matic. Very slight rust on the back hatch window trim. Rides like a dream. I will hve it on a lift tomorrw for an inspect.

Unfortunately only 5 grand. Recession has me downgrading from my R350.
Its either the ride or the house.
He was gonna let me have it for 4800.00. Its a 2WD.
That year didnt have the perch issue correct?

So do you think settling for the 01 with little rust and having it inspected and painted is okay?
