best way to remove swirl marks in black paint
Good Saturday
I have a 99 E430 black and have a bit of swirl marks .... any recommend waxes or compounds?
I used to own another black car years ago and used a product by Wax Shop called Black Magic
however that has been discontinued ...... any suggestions?

I am in a very similar situation. I just picked up a black 1999 E430 Sport and the car has some swirl marks as to be expected with any dark colored car. I did some research into products that would get rid of the swirl marks without having to have the car buffed out and I am going with these guys...

I use Macquire Polish for my black car in between wax job. It is a glaze and it gives a deep, wet black appearance and literaly hides all swirl marks. It applys easy also.

Try about 4 or 5 coats of this stuff. Then continue with Zaino to lock the Safe Cut in.

Mirror like results on all wheels, metal, chrome, painted trim and plastic lenses. You will see a "wet-looking" crystal-clear, ultra deep gloss. Want the deepest, wettest, slickest, clearest, richest, and shiniest paint ever. Apply two more coats of Show Car Polish. Show Car Polish will continue to get deeper and wetter with each succeeding coat, up to five coats. You can however, apply as many coats as you want of Show Car Polish. You will not believe the depth and optical clarity of the wet-looking gloss.

2000 E320
You can get these 2 products from your local auto paint dealer (like sherwin williams). They are made by 3M. One is called 3M Pink and Glaze to fill in the swirl marks. You would use that first. then use another product called 3M hand glaze. which gives you the showroom shine. These are used by professional show car staff. The only problem is that when it rains, the 3M hand glaze will wash off. So I have been told that people would use McGuire wax after Pink and Glaze, then wax with McGuire, then use 3M hand Glaze. So as you can see it would probably take a whole afternoon (3hours work at least) to complete this task. I also have a black car. You just get used to the swirl marks under the light....

Z5 is not so effective covering swirls (IMO). Follow Ali's instruction in the detailing forum to buff out the swirls before the Z step, and yes I agree Z looks pretty darn good on black.
