Leaking trunk '98 E430 - Any advice?

Would a new gasket do it or are there other problems involved?

Thanks!

Your worst nightmare...
You mean water is coming inside the trunk?

Leaks suck! Has the car ever been rear ended?

The best advice I have is to have someone (small) get in the trunk with a flashlight, and spray down all the cracks to find out where the water is coming from.

Good luck!

Do you have a 9 year old? If not, I can rent you one. He is very comfortable being crammed in small dark spaces, he has two older brothers.

Does your car have a moonroof? If so there are 2 draining hoses coming down through the C-pillars protruding out the rear wheel whells. You need to remove the trunk lining to get to them. If one of these hoses is loose or cracked water is getting in the trunk...

It does. I will look at that. Do you know where the tubes pass through the trunk?

thanks!
