01 e-430 hood latch not opening !! :@
hey guys i just recently purchased a 01 e-430 4matic and i can happily say i love it to death for the week i've owned it lol my problem is when i bought the car the driver side hood latch would stick sometimes when you close the hood down it will not close all the way, but after playing with the hood latch a little it would close and stay closed, lol now the problem is that it will not release to open the hood :@ the driverside pops and lifts off fine but the passenger side will not release how can i open the hood or get to the cable without that one side being open ????? i realy want to put in the new headlights and h.i.d. i bought lol thank in advance fella's !

You might be
able to hook it with a stiff wire. Look in the grill with a flashlight and hook the cable.
Although after you need to drop the bumper to remove the headlights and you install unmodified crappy depos you probably will wish you had left the lights alone, the first time you need to drive in the dark.

hmm i was trying to find the cable running to it but didn't see it. I'll give her another run tmr when it's a little warmer. lol yeah i know what your saying about the headlights it's just the housing i bought and i got some MB h.i.d.'s

hood latch
I had the same problem. I was able to open the hood by reaching up from underneath the car. start at the foglamp , remove the black cap on the back of the headlight and its a straight shot up from there, i was able to open it by hand. tried too hard with the hood release and broke the latch under the steering wheel .. part is $12. once i got it opened i lubed the cable really good as I noticed that the cable housing that runs across the top of the radiator from the driver's side to the passenger side was rusty. I found the whole cable assembly for like hmmm i wanna say like 16 or 26... i forget, i didn't order it because my lube job worked fine.

thanks for the replies and the in-put. lol i couldnt find the cable but it didn't matter anyways for some reason the cable had come loose from the latch :S i was going to change the headlights anways so i just broke the headlight at the highbeam part and pulled it right out and there was the stupid latch right behind it. I managed to get it open and fixed the cable i pinched the end of the latch closed so the cable shouldn't come back out and even if it does i run a secondary line to the latch and placed it behind the new grill i put in, just in case
i still need to replace the latch so if anyone has one for sale or know's of one please let me know. Thanks again boys, drive safe

lol omg changing the headlights on this thing has been one of the worste experiances of my life LOL and i love cars !! i gave up trying to drop the bumper to get those two stupid bolts at the side of the headlights. I did manage to get to them after pulling off those two mouldings on the front bumper and going at that those two bolts with a 8mm from the bottom. The headlights look and work great...FOR NOW lol those with the new grill i put in gives the car a updated look and keeps the sexy curves of the 430 without looking like a ricer mobile. it was worth all the trouble but i am going to have to look up how to get that dang bumper off now for when i get my new kit.
