1998 E 300 TD fuel leaking
Help !! My 1998 E 300 TD just started leaking fuel from under the valve cover, and running down to exhaust manifold. I took the black cover off the valve cover, and there is fuel puddled in the holes where the lines go to the injectors in the front one and the rear one. Are those black braided lines the return lines ? Could it be those leaking ? Are they easy to repair or replace ? I recently burned a few tanks of biodiesel, could that have caused the problem ? I'm pretty good at doing my own repairs, but I've never worked on this car yet. With some good instructions, could I repair it myself ? Thanks in advance, David

Haven't had that problem with my car yet. Biodiesel will degrade your rubber fuel line seals. The braided hoses are the fuel return lines. I'd check those to see if they are leaking/weeping. Should be pretty straight forward to replace them. Just map out your plan prior to disassembly. Either that, or its the seals for the metal lines that run to your injectors.

Thank you very much, I appreciate it. I ordered some new return line. I wish I knew how it's attatched, I don't see any hose clamps or anything else. Oh well, I appreciate your help, David
