Story:
i was pumping gas at the gas station when the bill reached $89 and kept going up. The automatic shut off never shut off and gas kept overflowing my tank. i went to take out the pump and had GALLONS of 93 spurt out and go all over me as well as the gas station.
gas attendant said they had just replaced that hose 3 hours ago.....it never stopped pumping
Car was leaking gas when it was overflowing but not afterwards when i came to pick it up after going to the hospital.
For the past 2 days it has been showing me gas full and i have been flooring it from light to light.....
The batt/alternator light has been coming on and the car feels underpowered.
are the two problems related?
what should i do?
Thanks in advance guys

Contact
the people that own the station and the state dept that handles gas stations in your state. They should handle checking over possible damage to your charcoal canister portion of the fuel system. The 800 number to call will be located on the fuel pump.
Check your serpentine belt ,your charging system.
Most likely unrelated to the fuel problem but don't rule it out.
You have a valid claim against the station.
However in the future stay with the fuel pump is always advised

If there are potential issues with the drive train then running at redline to make the gas needle move is not in the best interest of you nor your car. Quit that right away and follow Oh Lord's advice. Get the number off the station fuel pump and call now.

Note that we are all in the land of speculation here. The over filling could potentially have jammed the float up higher than it normally should go and therefore gotten it stuck.
As to the batt/charge, I can't think of a plausible connection unless you got gas in the battery well under the seat. You would probably smell the gas, but it's easy enough to pull the backseat bottom and check to make sure everything is as dry as a fresh diaper.

I'd love it if my gas gauge always read full! Mine only goes about 20 miles before it;s down a quarter, then jumps up and down and doesn't seem to read accurately until I'm under half a tank - around 200 miles.

Sorry about your incident and I hope you will get this resolved ASAP. If I recalled, you live in the MD area? Could you tell us which gas station this is at so we can stay away from it?
Thanks.
Thanks.
