Oil Changes- Transition back to Regular?

So my mom had my car for a few weeks as hers was being repaired.. during that time she took upon herself to get an oil change(which it didnt need), and the shop convinced her to use synthetic.

I've been using regular, as that seems to be the consensus popular option. Is there a safe way to return to regular oil?

Most MB owners of newer models use synthetic. Not sure where you heard they don't.

Synthetic lubricants such as Mobil 1 0W-40 help the car start easier, reduce wear and corrosion and improve gas mileage over conventional oils. If you use the car's computer to determine oil quality and service cycle it's a wash on cost. (Note: You must use a fleece (polyester) filter as well.)

OP

has the old school M104 if it has been on conventional oil keep it that way at mb intervals. No need to spend synthetic money on a conventional m104 engine and dump it at the shorter intervals those engines run.
Change it back to conventional at next regular oil change.
Or you run the risk of springing leaks.
Besides wasting money.
M104 was not an FSS engine.

MB recommends same 229.3 and 229.5 oils for M104 as for M112. The owners manual says use the factory recommend oil. While no FSS (my mistake) there's no reason not to use a synthetic oil. I don't believe synthetic oil causes leaks.

+1

synthetic oil actually hydrates seals better compared to conventional oil which makes leaks less likely.

I'm hoping oil technology has changed a little in 15 years.
That said, old style engine = old style oil.
