Help with "Engine Electronics" fault in E300D

Greetings all. I'm requesting your help with an engine fault/check engine light which was preceded and accompanied by the following in an otherwise well-running '97 E300 diesel:

1. Glow plug light would not come on. Suspected weak or dead battery. I unhooked and fully recharged the battery.
2. I reconnected the battery. Glow plug light came on and off normally. E300D fired right up.
3. "Check engine" and "Engine electronics" displayed post-start in message display area (below speedo/rpms), along with "Check engine" caution (yellow) light on right side of instrument cluster.
4. Reset button cleared the message, but check engine light remained illuminated and has ever since.
5. Car drives same as it ever did from idle - near full throttle, which is to say very well (for a non-turbo diesel, anyway!).

The good folks at Autozone hooked up a fault reader, and a P1367 was reported. Unfortunately a decoder ring to come up with an actual fix was not available.

Bottom line: The car still runs great, but kicks out the check engine light with the accompanying message every time. If you have experienced this before or know a fix, your advice would be appreciated before I give up and take the car into the shop.

Thanks!

The P1367

was read on a generic obd2 scanner. That's why no solution was pointed out.
The 1 indicates proprietary MB related code.
Charging the low battery helped because it masked the failure or impending failure of one of your glow plugs.
higher the number the further back ,don't have a list but suspect one of the middle cylinders.
Probably time to replace them all anyway.
diy might be on benzworld or peachparts.com resource section diy articles.

hint: buy a can of kroil and use it before digging in.

I have a list of all of MB trouble codes except ones for the newest models (MY2008+).

P1367 isn't listed

Adjacent codes are -

P1366 Y93 (switch-over valve exhaust valve)
P1380 cylinder intake valve can not work when cylinder is cut-off (OFF)

You can try guessing but it's costly. If you can find an indy with a SDS have it scanned or use the dealer. Additives sometimes work but usually isn't a permanent fix.

Your list

is not complete so you don't have them all or it would display the glow codes.
odd numbers in that range are the glow plug codes 5,7,9,etc.
star or snapon list would show which but if one is going op might as well do all it is time.
even our good member signal to noise Marcus list is not complete.
Diagnostic tree points its branch at that glow plug just based on his original symptoms.

Guys -- Great feedback. It led me to do some more searching on the glow plug topic, and I found the P1367 in another thread -- glow plug failure in cylinder(s) 3/4. I also referenced the glow plug diy thread on peachparts which is a great tutorial. I'm looking forward to this project.

Thanks again.
