Strange question for hvac

Ok,

First off, Hi! Im Justin I've been lurking for a while, learning what I can. This one; however, has me totally stumped!

So I have what appears to be the w210 hvac issue with the regulator. This summer it was working fine, then suddenly just stopped blowing. Well recently I checked my codes and got b1227 and b1234, but after those two it repeated the same codes but with the little fan icon in the center showing as well.

Additionally I disconnected my sunlight sensor because one of the codes was for that and it developed a strange sort of thing. I cant explain it but I demonstrated it in the video below

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/SZIxpmRe9FU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

In case the video doesnt embed, heres a link:

http://youtu.be/SZIxpmRe9FU

For diagnosis purposes I pulled the values from the sensors as well and they are as follows:

1 58
2 E
3 129
4 127
5 53
6 175
7 03
8 51
9 28

If anyone has some insight I would sincerely appriceate it. I already ordered the blower motor and regulator, but if its just the sun sensor that would save me a fortune!

Thanks everyone!

Justin

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
reinstall the sun sensor

it only speeds up the fan marginally when called upon.
The w210 does not like to have things disconnected even when you think they are not working.
Replace your or check your outside temp probe(it may just be unplugged) it is showing E in the value section and a fault code in the error section b1227.
If when you quickly swith off to on and the fan blower triggers on most likely the blower motor brushes are worn or to the limit of use and you need to replace the blower.
DIY for the cheap way to do it on www.benzworld.org w210 forum

Before doing all the above

read the errors again and erase them. Then run them again and see what shows up.

1999 E430 Sedan
What year is your MB ?

Here's what happened to me earlier this year:

Set up - I have a 1999 E430 W210 Pre-Facelift (that I bought for my wife for Christmas last year) we absolutely LOVE THIS CAR - the BEST CAR we have ever owned in the 37 years we've been married - OK. That said....

I had the same issues as you (jcrouzo)....

Here's the dealeo that applied to our E430 - there was a change in the blower motor and blower motor regulator that was implemented - mid year in the 1999 production run for the W210... Why is this significant? IF you have an earlier model metal framed fan & earlier model regulator, you have to replace them with the same exact unit.

OUR E430 on the other hand - has a PLASTIC framed blower motor frame and a different style of blower motor regulator (the ones that were replaced - mid year in the production run for the 1999 model (ours was one of these) and nobody on this board had a clue of this little detail........... :-(

MY fan motor - does NOT have the nice bright aluminum frame on earlier W210's....

<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm309/azschoolofrock/IMG_0966.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Well - I did exactly what you were wondering - change the sun sensor and exterior sensors - with no effect on the problem.

Long story short = I ordered and installed the "updated" version of the blower motor regulator, and a new blower - and the "issue" is now moot.....

Here's the proof - I believe the unit on the RIGHT in the first pic is the one that SOLVED MY PROBLEM for MY Benz......

<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm309/azschoolofrock/IMG_1169.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

You can see that from this side - they look very close at first glance, but the differences between the two on this side can been seen.....The one on the bottom of this pic is the Updated Version....

<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm309/azschoolofrock/IMG_1170.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

My best advice to you, is IF you have a 1999 model - check to see if your fan and regulator unit are the "Updated" versions - if they are, earlier 1999 model year replacement parts will NOT solve your problem.....

Oh yeah, make sure to replace the black plastic cover that seals the fan unit in place - this is CRITICAL for the fan unit to work properly (as I found out)

update

got the new regulator motor today,

went under the dash and found...

the new style motor and regulator.

These parts are not original to the car, they only started in the vin range a7 something and mine is a 1998 model e430 a6 something, so someones been here before.

Im returning the blower motor since its not the problem and ordering the updated regulator since the regulator is the old style as shown in kevins picture.

Hopefully this should fix the problem.

Ill keep you posted.
