Brake Light Failure, ABS and Traction Control

My 2001 E 430 is experiencing brake light difficulties.

When my head lights are switched "on" my brake lights illuminate even when I am not depressing the brake pedal.

After a few minutes of driving the take to work shop message appears for the ABS and Traction Control. I have no idea what is going on.

I am thinking I should start with replacing the brake switch and go from there. Has anyone done this repair on this model of car? Is it an easy fix?

Has anyone ever experienced these problems? My car is due for inspection next month and I must get these issues resolved.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
