Electronic Exhaust Cutouts?

Has anyone been thinking about putting these on as well? They look like a lot of fun for a relatively low price, and they sound pretty good. Anyone have any experience with these in California? If so, can I pass smog while having these in? That and the ability to go back to stock are my two conditions for this right now... Plus i've seen electronic cutouts that makes it a lot easier.

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
Where

would you install them? After the primary cats would be the only spot and once dumped you would lose all back pressure except that of the cats, the engine would fall flat on it's face off the line with the loss of low end torque.
If you installed them after the secondaries it would still sound like a turd and still run like ****.
If you ever had a visual inspection performed you would fail or need to restore the system before the test.

I had them in my truck, they were fun for the first year or so, then I never used them. Buddies who knew I had them wanted to open. truth is the rumble from below the body was too much, rumble out the back tail pipe is fine with me.

and if they were open and you got caught in traffic, you could really smell exhaust, as it did not have any where to go... did not like to think of all the times I could not smell, but it was there.

Hmm... that is true. i was thinking of putting them on after the cats anyway.. I wouldn't be using them as a performance piece, never expected it haha. wouldn't this be the same concept of a straight pipe? kind of like a muffler delete? i would still have my resonator in, since I will be putting in a magnaflow exhaust and don't want that to be unbearably loud.

Did you have the electronic ones? they're pretty much adjustable to any level of sound you can handle i think, opening them 1/4 will give you significantly less sound than fully open im guessing.
