Need automatic transmission 722.607

Hi. I'm looking for an automatic transmission type 722.607 for my 99 E320. Recently I purchased one from out of state and yesterday after receiving it I found that the seller sent me a 722.606 transmission. So, I'm still looking for one.

That's a bummer I hope you can return it. Have you tried www.car-part.com? They catalog salvage yards all over the country and you can search by price, location and condition.

Thanks. I know about car-parts.com. That's where I looked to get this transmission. Unfortunately, now I am a proud owner of this 722.606 transmission.

I'm in Henderson, NV. I have very limited budget now so, I think a transmission with warranty will be out of reach for me. Unless I sell this 722.606 transmission.

Agreeing with ohlord. Their mistake? So they eat the shipping back and forth too.

Unfortunately, it doesn't always work like that. Now I have to find a buyer for it to recover my money.

The part number starting with 210 is the part number of the housing. The actual type of the transmission starts with 722.6xx. Here is interesting link with transmission series 722.6 http://www.autoshoppingcenter.com/tr...h/7226app.html
The differences are inside. Each transmission has different gear ratio. From outside they look the same. Here is another link that I found very educational http://www.scribd.com/doc/37436253/722-6
Thanks for your reply

.606

was a c class in the States. transmission won't work torque curve all wrong valve body set different.
Once again Mr. Clueless(plutoe) chimes in on something he knows absolutely nothing about. Why even make a suggestion that leads to confusion?
Check with his supplier? The supplier already sent him the wrong unit. Yikes

OP why unfortunately doesn't it always work that way?
Did you not do your homework and order a transmission from ebay or craigslist without first knowing what you needed to order? That is my only supposition.
What was wrong with the transmission in the first place?

Plutoe

"I believe repeat believe" You Believe that your turbodiesel sedan has no such thing as a wastegate on the turbo. If you don't even know that simple bit of information you should and I repeat refrain from guessing anything about anything really complicated like a transmission.

Got the right transmission last Thursday. Installed in one day and now I have to find a way to delete the transmission codes because is in a limp mode. I also have problems with the AC which I described in a separate thread.

when my 99 E320 was in limp mode

The only way I could get the transmission codes reset was at the dealer. That was a few years back and the cost was minimal (less than $100 as I remember).

I went to one local dealer and they quoted me $280 (2 hours). For that money I can buy a scanner that would do what I need.

Just out of curiosity, but do you think Ohlords method on this seperate thread of a Transmission ECU reset clear the codes?

That would only clear the adaptation values not the fault codes. So, if you bought a used Mercedes this would be a good way to clear the previous driver's adaptation values. To clear the fault codes in the ETC module you need a scanner that is capable to do it. Not every one can do it.

Thank you Plutoe, I will do that. I know that a couple of years when I had another 99 E320 in which I changed the crankshaft sensor, I had to go through some kind of adaptation process by driving for a specific amount of time on specific gear. Maybe it is the same procedure. I'll find out.

Plutoe, I just got the document AD27.19-P-3000-04A but I have no way of measuring the torque while driving. All I can do is to drive on a specific gear looking at the rpm (not to exceed 2400) and do the shifting like they mention in this document. I hope that this would be enough. I doubt that the technicians at the local dealership check the torque when they go through the adaptation procedure.

Last Monday I went through the adaptation process and the car drives very nice. Shifting is very smooth. I’m happy.
