Side Fender Blinkers

Has anyone installed the side blinkers that go on euro spec w210's? Anyone have a tutorial of sorts?

Where can one find these blinkers and the chrome trim for them?

Went to ForMyMercedes.com and they only have the chrome trim. I want to find one place where I can find both parts.

Have you tried the dealer? US spec 99 (or was it 98) CLK 320 had them.

Hmmmm......

I wanna go to my service department prepared with part numbers. It's difficult as is to something that you already know but don't know how it's categorized in their system :-(

I will start looking around at the CLK's since you say they have them. Never paid enough attention to notice them on those... :-(

Michakaveli Front Plate

I really like the look of your chrome front plate. Where did you get it? Does it hold up to the weather okay. I have a chrome frame that the stealership gave me and it's rusting out. So I thought I'd get a new plate and frame. Your's looks great.

The chrome plat eI bought was off EBay. The chrome frame I found was at a local AutoZone. It's a frame they almost never have. But I stopped in there ou of the blue and they had one.

Thanks. I found a chrome plate and frame from performanceproducts.com for $48 plus shipping. How does that compare to what you got off ebay? How long have you had it and is it rusting?

It's all the same main company that makes the plates I assume. I bought my plat efor like $30 if my memory serves me correctly, and $13 for the frame at AutoZone. Had it for a few months and no probs yet :-)

i recently had these installed on my w124.
they are sweet.

clk320 had them for '98 and'99 models. also early ml's have them.

why don't you just get blinking mirrors?

they are fresh and are really pretty nice.

I agree with blinking mirrors instead of the side markers. Makes the car look sleeker (if that's a word) and newer for that matter. Just my opinion...

Hey Mic, if you're still contemplating these, the bulbs are like the park lights (on the inside 2 headlamps) except orange. I'll check my manual for the exact bulb description later for you.

Sweet! That's what I'm looking for.... The clear ones...

Would you happen to have the parts numbers?

According to the user's Euro manual a.k.a. "WY" Amber 12V (of course!).

I'm just interested in knowing how you put the holes in the fender - seems like a frightening task. I haven't yet taken mine off but according to the manual, to remove all you have to do is push the lamp forward then twist anti-clockwise, so I'm assuming its not just a straight hole but instead, an irregular shaped slot.......

Mic or anyone else, is my thinking correct and if so, how would you cut out the fender?

To answer your question, I don't know. I want to have a part number so that I can go down to the stealership and see the lights before I buy them. I would assume that you just drill a small hole for which the light mounts to the fender. But I have no idea, just assumptions. I just really like the way they look and I do like the european look.

As far as making the hole I assume you used various sized drill bits, starting with a tiny one to start the hole then moving up in sive till you get the desired opening.

OK, I'll take mine off and take a pic of the hole for ya later this week (hope the paint won't peel.....). If there's a part no. on the blinker I'll take it down (I can always send a pair to you if you like, it can't be that expensive sending such a small item and there's always much cheaper replica's available in Knock-Off town here).

But remember you've gotto get rid of those on the side of the bumper for a complete Euro look.

call partsshop at mercedesshop.com, they can and will get you part number and possibly best price on parts.

also tom hansen at caliber motors mercedes wholesale parts 1.800.252.6877 pacific time

most likely your local dealer won't have them to show you.

they are identical to the ones on any early ml or early clk and early slk, just take a good look.

#194 bulb is u.s. number. a euro "wy" bulb may mean wedge, yellow [a guess]

fenders must be drilled!!!!! i had a euro shop do mine, they charged me about $150.00

I'm curious why M-B manufactures different W210 fenders for different markets. All the E-Class I've seen in Europe have the signals mounted in the side fenders, yet we need to drill holes in our body panels? I'm missing something.

I retrofitted these same lights onto my old 700 Volvo, but all I had to do was pry the Volvo logo off the fender, wire it up and pop it in to the existing hole.

I'll be interested in seeing how this works out.
