E430 Hesitation

My 2001 E430 has a hesitation issue. When I stop and start to move forward at times the pedal moves but the car doesnt. I have to relieve the pressue on the pedal and slowly press again and it will take off . But next time it hesitates a bit. Even when I accelerate on the highway it will hesitate some . Throttle Position Sensor ? I dont know. Help.
car has 184000 miles gets 33 mpg no other issues other than the coolant sensor above .
Is there a test I can do to check it or am I stuck buying one and hope for the best ? Opinions respected.

How are you getting 33 mpg?!?!! I have an 02 E430, I get 17 around town. I drove to Florida and back for Thanksgiving and averaged around 25.

As far as your hesitation, is there a CEL on?

CEL is on but its for Coolant temp sensor.thats the only code it shows. Drove car from my home to the beach 255 miles drove around till Sunday filled up 11 gallons, total miles driven 354. I have been getting 30+ ever since I bought the car. It has 187K miles on it and the only thing I have had done to it were the routine maintenance and an A/C compressor about 4 years ago. Other than that nothing. Been and still is a great car. Just a bit perplexed about the hesitation.

Well, the temp sensor is an input to the fuel mixture, so I would fix that. My next suspect would be MAF. If you're getting 30+ MPG on the 430, then it's probably running lean, which would account for hesitation.

The hesitation just started . I have this car since new. Never had any isues with performance. It has been getting 30+ since new. I have had the car in the shop for routine maintenance numerous times and no one has ever said anything about it being lean. The mechanic I use would have told me if it was running lean and would have adjusted it then . But I have had the same mechanic since 2003 and looking over my invoices I dont see any entry about it running lean . So, I will have it checked and get back to you. I still think the TPS is at fault.

There's no adjustment. If it's lean, something broke.
