power steering hose bolt broke

I have a 1999 E320 that had a power steering hose leak. I bought a new one, installed it but the connection at the rack and pinon leaked. I began tightening the bolt (very hard since space is SO tight!) still leaked, tightened again... bolt broke. Luckily I was able to use my "back outs" to remove the bolt.

Can anybody help me with why the metal hose connection leaks? I have the copper seals and tightened the bolt very tight.

HELP!

Where did you buy the hose and did you compare the ends before install.

I bought the part online. I did see that the hoses looked alike and that the bend in the metal was the same. However, I did not look at the metal round connector part in detail. I guess that could be a problem. I was wondering if other part "down there" are potential leaks areas. Seem be a lot of parts that could leak as well. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your input VERY much! Ed

I did put new copper seals on. I was wondering if there are other parts "down there" that are potential leak areas for a 1999 E320?

Thanks for the input! Ed
