Factory Alarm Issue

Tried a search for this one. My wife locked the vehicle and went shopping. When she returned, she unlocked the trunk and the alarm and lights started to sound/flash. She started the vehicle and the alarm and lights continued as she drove for the next 6 miles until they went off. I charged the battery a couple of weeks ago due to the car setting alot. The alarm has gone off previously for no reason while we were not home according to the neighbor. Any susgestions are appreciated. Thanks!

I will check the manual, however, I have had the car for 4 yrs, I believe it is another issue, thanks! I thought it was the battery from sitting but it is still a good battery. I have read it could be the door sensors, I will have to check that out too. What throws me as to why it's still sounding while it is being driven.

I have the vehicle set for Global unlocking mode as it always has been. No matter which mode it was set for, the alarm should have turned off after inserting the key as the Manual states.

Thanks for your advice Plutoe, you must know alot about this alarm system knowing it has thirty components. Reading your last post, sounds like I am wasting my time on this site and should just go to the dealer to have it fixed. What you have posted has not been helpful. I usually get a post from someone who had the same problem and what they did to remedy it.

" however there are about thirty components within the anti theft circuit and without a quick scan how are you going to find the problem!!"

Well, just don't have a scan tool in the closet and wouldn't know anyone but a dealer that would have one. I have used this site since 2009 and everything I have done is DIY. There is alot of valuable info here.

free advice but I would try 'rebooting' the electrical system for the heck of it.
210s are noted for being finicky. disconnect the negative lead and let it sit
for a few minutes. then reconnect.

HOWEVER, BE AWARE....!....that you'll also need to reset the sunroof (holding
switch for 5 secs with roof closed), windows (holding switch for 5 secs with
window closed), radio (4 digit security code required), possibly seats and
mirrors. all these are found via SEARCH feature on this w210 forum (also
Benzworld.org)

so if you are familiar with these resets, go for it.
