Rear deck speakers
Let me start by saying, I have searched all over the site and can't find my answer...
Hey all, my car is a non-bose unit and I am in the middle of updating the stereo in whole. I have already bought the head unit (single din Alpine), speakers (front are component Alpines), rear deck speakers (two-way Alpines) and amp (Alpine). When i install the wiring to the amp, I plan on running an additional cable to support another amp for subs if this system doesn't meet my needs for bass.
So, here's the question: has anybody used 6 3/4 JL audio (or any other) subs on their rear deck without cutting the back panel or using a box in the trunk?

Oh I see. From what I understand, the A pillar grills and the two grills on the front dash has nothing in it so I think you need to rewire if you want to put speakers there.
I only have 6 speakers--1 on each door and 2 on the rear shelf. It would be nice to put some tweeters on the A-pillar.

Ok, I have the non-Bose stereo in my 99 4MATIC and interesting enough as I put my ear next to the A pillar, it certainly sounds as if there is a speaker playing in it. For the life of me, I'm not able to find details on the non-Bose stereos in these cars.
Does anybody have a sales sheet on the 99 or anything that might be specific about the speakers in these cars?
