1996 E320 will not rev over 1500 rpm

I recently purchased a 1996 E320. It has 62k miles. It will not go above exactly 1500 rpm's. The instrument panel state "engine electronics ". Scanner show a P0600 code (generic).
It start good and idles smooth. Runs and sounds great until exactly 1500 rpm's whether you in neutral or driving it. At 1500 rpm it cuts out. it does keep running, kind of like it hits a rev limiter.
I have replaced the battery.
I would appreciated any help. Thanks

An MB P0600 is the ECU is not able to communicate with some systems(ESP)(ASR) and depending on engine type the P0600 refers to different systems.

Clear the fault--------after awhile does the fault return----if it does then you need a quick scan with DAS Xentry to determine why the\which modules are unable to communicate with the ECU.

Problem with engine

I have a problem similar to yours, my car also can not achieve more as 1500 rpm. How you were with the engine?

If you are a W124 driver, your engine is controlled and diagnosed differently than the W210-----to start---do you have an 8,16 or 38 pin diagnostic connector and do you have a pulse counter to test for faults????

Excuse, I am still confused---did you put a W210 motor in a W124 chassis?????----

What model number of motor is in the car now???

I will ask again what type of diagnostic socket do you have----an 8,16 or 38 pin type?

So the motor is mounted to W124. I have a M104 2.8 engine, is 38 pin socket. Damn I do not know what it is, the installation is okey, the flowmeter also. A car fires and has a max 1500 rpm

Hi all, I'm new here and this is my first reply and I hope it is correct,
I've practice the same problem with BMW 525 and the solution was to put the idler pulley of the old motor back (not use the pulley comes with the new installed engine but the one from the old engine because it synchronized with the car instrument.
wish this will help you.
