Car stalls while reversing, low RPM at startup

Hey everyone, I've had problems with my RPMs dropping too low at startup and stalling while reversing. I've had this problem since the dealership did my motor mounts almost 2 years ago and forgot to fully reattach the air filter.

When I start the car, the RPM jumps, then it idles around 500 RPM and it almost feels like it's going to stall. When I cleaned my MAF sensor about a month ago, it made it so that I could have one good startup per day.

Any suggestions?

I would start by buying a Bosh MAF (get the insert only)

Sometimes the MAF just can't be cleaned and causes what your experiencing. Even more so when you stated it worked once a day.

I'd start there....

I don't remember the price being that high when I bought mine? Just make sure to buy Bosh

Cheers!

*I also clean my MAF when I clean the Air Filters. This is a good for the MAF as it burns off all the junk but a fresh MAF is a happy MAF-

I'd recommend a soft key reset when you install the new MAF. Your ECU will adapt to the new settings plus it will give it a little kick

If your MAF was that bad(faulty) your dash would light up----don't waste your money!!

Spend way less money on a scan with some live data to tell you what is going on----the ole it's gota be the MAF is very old school!!---Yea I know Prorgy and Bess made the recommendation so it's gotta be solid!!

PS do you have the 104 or 112 engine??

^ I take it you didn't read his full description?

When I cleaned my MAF sensor about a month ago, it made it so that I could have "one good startup per day".

I have read the full and complete post and I am not about to get involved is a pi__ing contest with one of BS Billys choir boys.

You gave your advice. I don't agree with it. I gave my advice---you don't have to agree with it----What I care about is trying to help solve the OP's problem.

Cool

I can see why Ohlord abandoned ship. Can't say I don't blame him.......

I'm going back to the AMG forum & staying there.

Safe driving gents!

Either you don't know who Porgy and Bess portrayed, or you just don't give a crap what you say or reference. Time to leave for a forum that helps folks without the verbal slurs.

Find someone with a working MAF swap it for yours and see if there is an improvement, if so buy a new one.

Just purchased this off of eBay. Hope this solves my problem! The dealer was charging me $350 for it, and I had eBay bucks that were about to expire.

My car has been very odd when I reverse up an incline - it 'jumps' and feels like it's going to lurch forward, and then it picks up and starts reversing. I hope it doesn't progress into anything worse. Is this what you're experiencing too?

I didn't have that problem, but someone else here probably has. I hope you get it taken care of!
