Looking At A 2001 e430 sport....Opinions

Hi all, looking at picking up a 2001 e430 and it's a sport I believe. Has 160k and the only drawback are some rips on the front seats and it says engine oil sensor visit workshop. Any opinions before I decide on this model? Do these have factory self leveling? And if so are the adjustable via STAR?

Thanks!

W210 E430's are very solid cars mechanically, though can't speak to your specific oil sensor error. Definitely check for rust.

No self-leveling on the sedans, only the wagon.

Bought mine new in 2000. Has 169K. Runs solid with decent mpg. Only minor trans fixes over the years. Daily driver; still lots of fun.

I recently bought a 2000 E430 Sport with 135k miles and absolutely love it. It's fun to drive and the engine and transmission are strong. Very solid car in my opinion. And the sports look so good haha

Yeah I ended up buying it but it wasn't a sport afterall. Got a hell of a deal though!

Sorry to thread jack, but coming from the world of BMW, there are some major differences between Sport and non-sport.

What is/are the differences between e class sport and non-sport

My 2002 has 145k on it. My engine oil sensor has been out for a couple years now. Requires the oil pan removed in order to fix it. I just check my oil regularly. I bought this car with 60k on it and so far the only repairs I've needed to make have been: new idler pulley, motor mounts, trans circuit board, rear window motor.

This is my daily driver and is the best car I've ever owned as far as not breaking things often!

Can you post a pic of your 430 Sport?

OP: Congrats on the purchase. I hope you enjoy it!

Lovely...but looks to be sitting very high for a sport.

My estate (wagon) is an Avantgarde (sport):

2001 E430 Sport
I've had my 2001 e430 sport for almost two months now and i love it to death. The sport package is only cosmetic and has the amg bumpers and sideskirts, sport wheels, sport shift knob and sport badging. The w210 is a great car and I would recommend you getting one but they can be a nightmare if they haven't been maintained. Make sure, regardless of mileage, that you get one with good service history. Also, one that hasn't seen too many cold winters would be a good idea. Hope you enjoy it.

He has bought one.

Surely the Sport, like the Avantgarde in Europe will have lowered suspension (as above) from the factory?

Mine has the same body panels/kit, but has the tiny 16" wheels... Seems like the "Sport" owner paid more for wheels?

Mine isn't a sport. Hence the higher ride height. Your rims above look like they were taken from a very early e420 W210.

Sports have lower stiffer suspension from the factory.

Here's a picture of my 2000 E430 Sport that I picked up in December. It has the AMG bodykit (minus the cut out for the exhaust) and 17" sport wheels.

If it has not got a full service history I would not buy it.
