Dressing Up the Rear Clusters
Apparently they have stopped production of the chrome surrounds for the rear fog/reverse light on the pre-facelift W210 and only have the thin ones that surround the entire rear cluster. I recently came across a rare set for US$38 (chrome - original Schatz). I don't normally like them on darker colors but it looked pretty good on my white car, especially with my exhaust. An alternative will be to paint them. I hesitate to update the lights since too many people have done it and it would cost a lot more. Guys, shall I:
(1) Get the chrome surrounds?
(2) Paint them - the "Lexus look"?

Hahhahahaha! Yeah, I think Hank has hit the spot. Its what I'd always thought but the half egg also looks odd sticking out of the flat surface...kinda like a pimple Maybe I'll paint it black, if allowed...if not maybe I'll just get the MY00+ E55/Advantgarde updates for US$230, fully installed.

Oh no, those look really bad, sorry Dave, just my opinion. Either get the MY00+ stock or E55 taillights or just leave the stock ones alone.

I like the chrome look on white as well as the egg shape goes!
Seriously, if you are going to paint them, why not fabricate some out of high-impact plastic then paint them? They are likely to hold paint better than the chrome and I am no cabinet maker, but the shape should not be difficult to duplicate with a little patience or a friend with table saws and finishing gear!
Good luck and be sure to post the final decision with pix.
