You can interrogate the system, move lights to max/min settings, and read sensor values using Star diagnostics. Otherwise, with headlights on, just raise the rear of the car. The sensor is located on the swaybar so the headlights adjust based on rear ride height.

I don't own a model with this feature but it should be pretty basic: integral
with the suspension, mechanical linkage winds its way to the headlight assembly
and gooses something that causes the headlight to tilt up/down based on the
load on the suspension.
I've seen photos either here or on Benzworld. Will see if I can locate. Other-
wise, unless you're into this kind of detail, it may be easier to simply bring your
car to the dealer for calibration. I've read where the linkage had become
damaged and this disabled the autotilt feature. Still, if you have time, it maybe
work a quick crawl under and carefully inspect the linkage.

Xenon goes on MAX
I got this problem that suddenly my Xenon light went on MAX - they are all the way up and are blinding other;(
I did run diagnostic and found fault saying: “HRA – Headlamp range adjustment 2108206126”
If it’s that simple then --- anybody know where it’s placed?

it will take me a day or two to study this. i don't have HID so I am unable to
track this other than flipping through pages of info. if I get more clues, I'll
update this thread. r-
p.s. if you have your VIN# and are comfortable, send that to me via private messaging
or my email waltermitty01@juno.com

Well - I will try the scrapyard first tomorrow so don't use to much energy on it right away ... I will let you know what I find out ....
Thanks for the interest

Before visiting the scrapyard, there are two simple things you can do.
1. Check the height sensors. See if the arm that connects the sensor to the suspension is broken or detached. There should be one sensor in the front (mine connects to the passenger side upper control arm) and one in the back. It looks something like this:
2. Turn the headlights on, then turn the key to position two, and see if the headlights do a little dance down and back up.
This should narrow things down a bit.

Thanks for the help - all
I do have Xentry Star Diagnostic and have tested the headlights - they work fine - up and down they goes - senors for weight forth and back also work fine - voltage goes up and down when pushing the car down - it comes back with “HRA – Headlamp range adjustment 2108206126” ... the number being the part number so I ordered a "new" one via eBay from a scrapyard in Lithuania ... will come on Monday.
The module is placed in the left side under the passenger seat - as Raymond also found out ...... when changing a module like this you have the reset the lights via STAR ... just so you know ....

yes - so the Control Module N71 arrived!
Quickly change it and then DAS it for Zero Position it ..... comes up with the following:
Value 1,37 Volt for the rear sensor is way too little for this - DAS say it must have between 1,64 to 3,20 Volts ....... hmmmmm
I tried to raise the back of the vehicle and mange to get it to 1,49 volts before the tire left the ground.
So - it all looks like it's the A51 Rear axle headlamp range adjustment sensor that is out of range .... notice there is no fault codes for the sensor and I know the sensor is working - it just think the car is way down with is back and are adjusting the headlights to almost MAX - I have to crawl under the car tomorrow - stay tuned!

I crawled under the car and saw instantly it was the bracket that have rusted away
I welded it and ordered a new one ... then did the diagnostic and went for the control - everything is back in order now )) anyone needing a Control Module N71 ???? ha ha ha
Thanks for the interest and effort everybody - hope this thread can help others and it is as it usually is ... the fault is often the most simple ....
