1998 300 turbo diesel quick help please
I currently have 21 tabs open in my browser related to turbo diesel problems so I am doing my part searching and not just asking straight away for help.
A family member called today. She is thinking of purchasing a 98 300 TD with 173,000 miles from a coworker. She knows I've had my E430 for about 10 years so I guess I'm obligated to give some advice.
I'm very aware with the common W210 problems like rust, lamp defective warning, window regulators, headliner rattle, AM reception, pixels, etc, etc. I'm not educated on the diesel W210's or some of the pre facelift problems though.
She mentioned the radiator has a slow leak and the seller has to add coolant. Are the diesels prone to head gasket problems? Do they have the Valeo radiator/trans cooler problems some of the MB's of that vintage have? Could it be leaking into the windshield reservoir?
Any other things specific to the TD or pre facelift models that I should make her aware of?
Thanks for any help.

Go to www.mbclub.co.uk prob find loads of info there as a high percentage of Brits run diesels
My '97 diesel has a head gasket water leak that I have been controlling for years with radiator stop leak. I understand that head gasket problems are right common, but there are many other places that can leak, with the coolant being caught in the front under pan so it doesn't drip on the pavement.
