just lowered car, some ?'s though
just lowered my '97 e320. put h&r sport w/ bilstein shocks. i have 18" w/ 235/40 in fr and 265/35 in rear...before lowering i was around 3 fingers gap in the front and almost 4 fingers in the rear. after installing new set-up, im at 1 1/2 in the front and 2 fingers in the rear...does that seem too low for front? i thought w/ this set up it should only lower about an inch in front. i used #3 and #2 pads. anyone have feedback on their experience w/ same set up? im just a little pissed cuz i already scraped bottom of front bumper while going to gas station.
Unfortunately it is the price to pay for vanity (and going with H&R's instead of other brands e.g. Eibach)! Both my exhausts and front bumper scrape when going up and down multi-storey carparks with #1 pads in the font and but #4 pads out back. Just gotto be a little extra careful.......
The only time I have scraped the front has been going down a speed controlled alley way and didn't see the speed bump in time. Made a mess of the plastic underpan, otherwise haven't had any other problems.
If you're not use to it, you should slow down a lot more for large bumps and curbs but everyday driving should be fine. Never had to go on an angle like some the the rice rockets I see around town. How about some pics including how high the bumper is from the ground to assess you problem?
