When I asked my salesman this question he said it was only the wheels - everything else remained unchanged. 2001 however started the year of the teleaid in the E class, and gps antennae was added - if I am correct.

Edmunds is a great source for comparisons.

4 wheels
Tele Aid was on the 2000 model as well. Wheel's were the same on 00' and 01' models. 02' got the 5 or 6 spoke 16" Alloy rims. Other than that all three are the same.

Differences

The only difference listed by MB between the 2000 and 2001 model years is that the 2001 has a one-touch switch to open the moon roof. It still must be held to close the moonroof. One other possible change is the addition of an inside trunk release. My 2001 has it.

I am not sure about the differences between 2001 and 2002, but I think the only difference is the wheels were changed to the 5-spoke design.

thanks for the info..

01 C Class has 'one-touch' open/close feature for the sunroof..
it's surprising that the E class does not have it..

Speaking of the 01 C class - When MBUSA negotiated me out of that god-forsaken ML, into the E class - my sister in law purchased a 01 C320 fully loaded on the same day. Three years later - I am shocked at the drop in value of the C class. Even the pre 2000 ones have what I consider an embarassing market value.

The E class appears to hold it's value much better than any other MB - even the S class.

The Teleaid system changed slighty in 2001 from 2000.... I don't have the option of "Voice Activation" to utilize the teletrak service or website featuresd Some models had sound through one speaker in the car for teleaid....later (and mine) have it through the stereo...

Aero,,the SE was offered for a limited time ending around March of 02,in which they officially commemorated the end of the 210 style.I happened to be in the market, when the dealer told me about the car,and the offering of about 5K in options for free. These included metallic paint, sunroof, rain sensing wiper, special floor mats, bose 8 or 10 speaker system,17" five spoke alloys and two colors, quartz silver or black metallic.Plus the black birdseye maple trim.He also thru in 6 cd changer in the trunk, and heated seats(but upon pick-up,the heated seats were missing,so he wrote me a $700 check).

Question 2001 Trunk Release

ATTN: Live2Drive. I have a 2001 E320 that does not have a trunk release inside the trunk. Could I have possiblly been sold a 2000 and charged for a 2001? I bought my E320 on 07-04-01. When did you get your E320?

Go Here

You VIN number will tell you what model year it is. They could have phased in the trunk release after your car was produced.

Thanks E_Klasse for the response. I do have a 2001. My production number is 193086 from Sindefingen. Does anyone have an inside the trunk release with an earlier production number?

Trunk Release

I have a 2001 E430 4-Matic. I ordered it in 2000 and it was finally delivered in March 2001. I had read the trunk release was a 2002 feature, so I was surprised my car has it. It is a lighted green button just above the trunk light. I wonder if the fact that my car is a 4-Matic, assembled in Austria, had anything to do with having this feature.

Thanks for the all who answered. Would anybody have a schematic or wiring diagram on how to install this "Green Button"? Having a electronic background, I should be able to put this in myself with proper instructions.
Thanks again.
