E class are pretty reliable.. but watch out for electrical problems
these stuff is hard to fix ..

if possible, look for a car with ALL the service history to see what common stuff needs to be fix

if you see a lot of them dealt with electrical, fuses, switches etc...

STAY AWAY from those

Mechanically, E class are pretty reliable
I read somewhere the Shocks and Steering column may have some inherent problems.. not 100% sure ...

Engine and tranny is pretty durable

Re: Looking to buy a w210, what should I look out for?
Mass Air Sensor
Rear window regulator
Steering column get loose
Alignment

That's all. Other than that, it's a reliable car.

I've had my 1999 E320 for two months. When the "Check Engine" light went on, I took it to the MBZ dealer. The mass air flow sensor had to be replaced, and was done under the Starmark 7 year/70,000 mile warranty. Other than that, the car's been a wonderful experience. Good luck.

I agree that the 210 engine, transmission, etc. are rock solid. Cars are definitely sold and safe, also. HOWEVER, watch out for electrical problems. My 2000 E430 is about to receive its 4th audio system. The A/C has gone out twice. It eats bulbs on a regular basis. I have 35K miles on mine.

Car also tends to eat rear tires, even when rotated regularly.

If Mercedes could fix their "overdesigned" electrical problems, they could maybe rise above Chevrolet in the JD Power quality polls.

I would go for the E39, especially those 2002-2003 model, with sport package. I had a 98 528i, best car I've ever owned.

I think it's the best sport sedan that's ever made. Very high quality craftmanship & nice look and ride.

If you're looking for good cruiser, then W210 is the way to go.
