trailer hitch

I am currently on the hunt for a European trailer hitch. If any one has any insight on where to find one I would appreciate it. Oh this is for a sedan

Europe?
For some time I was excited with hitches that hide automatically and speaking Polish, I could find used pretty cheap on Polish net, but the sellers did not want to deal with shipping heavy item overseas.
If you want to spend value of your car on new one, you will not have the problem.
Bare in mind that even the European hitches can pull 2.5 tons in Europe, in US those cars are rated for only 2500lb, so you might face some legal issues beside brakes.

Do you happen to know what the difference is between the two that the us version is limited on towing capacity. Also where should i look for a used or new one. Thanks Matt

A gaggle of MB's
Well... Curt Mfg is the source for the hitch - and they have Class 1 with "Euro" type ball mounts - in Euro receivers are typically 1 1/4" - then the "hook" converts it to a larger ball (1 7/8" or 2") ... look over this link:

Europe is not using receivers.
For different towing ratings thank US lawyers.
There is no difference in car bodies and American models come with bigger engines, bigger brakes when European models are mostly 4-cylinders.
Yet in America you are forced to buy pickups.
Would 30 mpg diesel wagons with 7 seats and 5000 lb towing capacity were imported to US, who would buy SUV or truck?

That is exactly the reason I am looking for a European hitch. I don't want to have to get a truck to tow something when my e430 has plenty of power.

I've been hauling heavy equipment for living in the past and from the experience you won't have to worry about weight police even when you hook up 4000 lb trailer (unless it is obvious danger) but you will have to worry about brakes.
Most of states require brakes on 1500 lb trailer and European MB do have trailer modules who are programmed to ECU and change the transmission program when trailer is detected.
For US you need to seek trailer with surge brakes, or add electric brakes controller.
I still remember driving in Alps years ago and all those BMW and MB with 1.8 l engines pulling 25' travel trailers.

Like I said in first reply >>> Europe.
W210 in Europe are almost non-existent due to rust, but check UK ebay for hitches.
Here is Polish site I would use. https://allegro.pl/listing?string=ha...n-aut-1-4-1017
60 bucks for new one, but shipping might double the cost if you agree to wait for sea shipping
