It is not hard to do. You need a set of torque screw drivers to remove the airbag through the 2 holes in the back of the steering wheel. Then the airbag just unplugs. (Don't turn the key on without the airbag plugged in or you could get a malfunction light to come on.) You need a large allen wrench to take the bolt out that holds the steering wheel on. (This bolt may be on really tight.) The steering wheel just pulls off and the new one slides on. (Put the new steering wheel in the same position as the original.) Then put the bolt back in and reinstall the airbag.

Hey E, where's the chrome rings? BTW, do you remember what size the two torx screws are? Steve told me before to do mine but now I'd forgotten Was it 27 or 25?

The allen bolt in the center is a 10mm I think - very difficult to remove as MB loctites it on I was told, so you might need to use a pipe to extend the allen wrench, as I did, to get extra leverage to remove it. Two wires run into the airbag, one for the horn, the other for the airbag - its just plug an play but when you do it, remember to remove your key from the ignition or you'll end up with serious problems.......

I've posted mine many times before so I'll spare you guys Since I got a non-W210 wheel, the whole airbag had to be replaced, otherwise a wheel like E or a Brabus like Jimmy's (now elemnt1) would just use the OEM bag.

Sorry to get off the subject. The chome rings do not look good with the white faces so I switched to this setup.

Your new steering wheel and air bag look good so you should post it again.

what kind of steering wheel was posted there with the wood on top and bottom with the plastic/metal star in the center? my last benz was a 300D and i really miss the jewel in the center of the wheel. that has been my only standing complaint with my 420 - the cheap looking steering wheel.

hey E, what’s that on your dash? Did you make that or does someone manufacture them to cover the dash? Did you put that on because of cracks or to prevent them?

I've been looking for the steering wheel like yours (different color). I prefer this style of wood steering wheel over the one w/ wood on top. Where did you get it ? And how much did you pay for it ? Do you have to replace the airbag ?

Is the steering wheel designed for the E class ? or is it for another model, and you manage to have it fit your car ?

Really nice interior you got there.

Thanks for the comps Zam, that wheel came on the late model SLK's, C32 and SL73, yes 7.3liters!!! It is plug and play on the 96-99 W210's and I picked it up from Steve the Euro pimp. Sorry, can't give the price here as I picked it directly up from him and paid him in Euro's...so what color do you want?:

Also comes in grey/black or blue/black two-tone....IMO, completely updates the interior.

Oh, forgot to mention, yes I did replace the airbag, it's stuck onto the cover and came with the wheel.....I believe it costs about the same as the Brabus wheel without airbags

This airbag can be found on the CLK before 99 and on the older SL I think. The steering wheels from 95 to 99 on most S, C, E-Classes interchange so that you can use your original airbag.

Go to www.global-accessories.com and look for dash mats.

You can get it monogrammed too. Comes in 12 different colors.

Airbag bolts are T27, you'll need around 50-80mm length. Steering wheel bolt is indeed 10mm hex.

Recommend using a regular breaker bar (at least 50cm) to remove the wheel bolt, and having someone else hold the steering wheel steady (instead of using the steering wheel lock).
